After cruising past Crawford in the opening round Tuesday, the Trojans battled, but couldn’t get over the hump that was Mullen’s slow and stodgy preference of play.

CAMBRIDGE - With three individual champions, the Arapahoe wrestling team took third place at the Fran Jorgenson Invite in Cambridge Saturday. The Warriors edged Cambridge by 1.5 points for third place, 111-109.5, while Southwest finished 14th with 35 points.
Arapahoe’s Levi Kerner grabbed his 110th career pin at the Fran Jorgenson Invite in Cambridge Saturday, setting a new school record.

BARTLEY - In a contest it trailed much of the night, the Southwest girls basketball team clamped down the visiting Southern Valley Eagles in the second half and came back for a 48-42 victory Tuesday. Southwest improved to 4-4 this season, while Southern Valley fell to 5-4.
Southern Valley’s Braxton Hammond took first place at the Southern Valley Invite, pinning his way to the title at 106 pounds.

Evans nears triple-double as Bulls roll past Franklin

FRANKLIN - With huge scoring outbursts in the second and fourth quarters, the Hi-Line boys basketball team overcame Franklin on the road Friday for a 69-52 victory. The Bulls used a 23-point second quarter to build a 38-29 lead at the half, then after seeing the lead slip away in the third, scored 23 more in the fourth to roll away to the victory.

Southwest cruises past Alma

ALMA - With consistent scoring throughout, the Southwest boys basketball team ran away with a 53-30 victory at Alma last week, controlling the contest until blowing it open in the fourth quarter. The Roughriders held the Cardinals in check all night and jumped to an 11-7 lead after a quarter before building a 25-15 lead at the half.
