Body The Southern Valley/ Alma softball team got its season off to a wild start Friday with a home opener against Chadron, losing the lead late in a 12-11 defeat. The Saints trailed 10-9 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Emma Joppa doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Body CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge and Southwest girls golf teams opened their seasons Thursday at the Cambridge quadrangular event. Macy Jones of Cambridge shot a nine-holr round of 46 to lead all competitors while Southwest’s Kacee Brittain finished second with a 66.

Body The Cambridge Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, July 12, 2021. Board Member Sally Farquhar was not preset for the meeting. Shortly after calling the meeting to order, the Board went into executive session to discuss personnel.

Body BARTLEY - The Southwest Board of Education met Monday to approve the addition of a girls wrestling program as well as some policy updates as suggested by the school’s attorneys. The Board discussed the addition of a girls’ wrestling team.

Body ELWOOD - The Elwood Board of Education met Monday to go over and approve a number of policy updates as well as to set activity pass prices and lunch prices for the upcoming school year.

Body Nebraska Corn Processing has sponsored a club basketball team for this summer featuring boys basketball players from Cambridge, Arapahoe, Southern Valley, and McCook. The team is coached by Clay Shepard and Bronson Wood of Cambridge.

Body The Girls Athletic Award was established in 1977 by the Cambridge Jaycettes to honor a graduating female athlete. It is now sponsored y the Cambridge Rotary Club.
