Locals push East to 35-6 win in Scottsbluff

Cambridge’s Kyle Borland (pictured playing center) and ethan Sides along with Keegan Benson from Arapahoe and Carter Bose and Clayton Berry (pictured right) from Southern Valley all played for the east All-Star team in the West Nebraska All- Star Football Game this weekend. Carter Bose was named Offensive MVP after the game. Bose and Berry connected for 2 touchdown passes and Bose ran for a third touchdown, and the east team won the game 35-6.

Local athletes, coaches take part in Shrine Bowl

Carter Bose of Southern Valley and Nolan Meyers of Arapahoe were selected to play for the South Team in the Nebraska Shrine Bowl Game. Bose held the snap and Meyers blocked for the sole points scored by the South in a 3-10 loss to the North. Dustin Kronhoffman of Arapahoe was an assistant coach for the South.

Sand Volleyball League debuts Tornado Alley

On May 23, a sand volleyball league began on the two sand courts on the north side of Tornado Alley in Arapahoe. Sundays, 8 coed 6-person teams gather to battle for the title in two divisions. The 6-week league play is followed by a double-elimination tournament (the top two teams from each division advance to the tournament).

Brenna Deterding of Cambridge competed in the 800 meter and the 1600 meter run Thursday morning at the 2021 State Track & Field Championship. Brenna also started off the Cambridge Girl’s 3200 meter relay, which ended up placing 8th.

OMAHA - The Southern Valley track team returned home with four medals between two athletes from the Class C State Track and Field Meet in Omaha last weekend. Clayton Berry earned a medal in his three events, taking silvers in the long jump and 110m high hurdles while finihsing fifth in the triple jump.

OMAHA - With three individual medalists and two medaling relays, Cambridge and Southwest brought home five medals from the Class D State Track and Field Meet in Omaha last Wednesday and Thursday. The Cambridge girls team wrapped up its stellar season with three medals, including a second place finish from Paige Klumpe in the high jump and a fifth place medal from Autumn Deterding in the pole vault.

OMAHA - A pair of Hi-Line boys competed at the Class C State Track and Field Meet in Omaha last weekend, running well for the Bulls. Kody Keller posted a time of 11.42 in the 100 prelims, taking 15th place, but missing finals by .18 seconds.

Burgeson fires 96 in first round of State Golf Meet

NORTH PLATTE - Southern Valley’s Colton Burgeson fired a first round of 96 at the Class D State Golf Tournament at Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte Tuesday. Burgeson sat in the middle of the pack with his second round set for Wednesday at the course.
