Local teams congregated at the Arapahoe Golf Course Thursday for the 15-team Arapahoe Invitational. The Warriors had the best boys’ team finish, claiming third behind Wallace and Alma with 30 points.

WAUNETA - A week after its first defeat of the season, the Trojans showed no lingering effects as they rolled past Wauneta-Palisade on the road, 46-0. The game was eventually called at halftime after a 90-minute weather delay.

Hi-Line earns split at Axtell

AXTELL - The Hi-Line volleyball team earned a triangular split at Axtell Thursday, sweeping past the Wildcats before falling in straight-sets to Loomis. On a night with wild runs and momentum swings, the Bulls outlasted Axtell, 25-20, 25-23 before falling to the Wolves 27-25, 25-22.

The Arapahoe football team evened its record to 2-2 Friday with a 66-14 win over Axtell. The Warriors jumped all over Axtell in the first quarter, racing out to a 24-0 and capping the quarter with a 21-yard interception return for a touchdown by Briggs Hill.

Cambridge, MHC, SW head west for XC

Another week, another large meet for cross county runners from Cambridge, Maywood/Hayes Center and Southwest. Out of 20 teams, 14 were able to compete for the boys’ team title Thursday at Chase County.

Roughriders defense dominates in victory over No. 1 Garden County

BARTLEY - While the calendar hadn’t reached mid-September yet, the Southwest football team notched a hige win Friday night, taking down defending State Champion Garden County, 21-12. The Roughriders suffocated the Eagles, holding them to 109 yards of offense and only four first downs in the contest.
Southwest’s Bo Truksa and Jacob Barber bottle up the Garden County ballcarrier. Southwest held Garden County to just 56 yards rushing Friday night.

MHC improves to 6-1

The Maywood/Hayes Center volleyball team completed an undefeated week with three home wins. MHC didn’t drop a set in taking down Arapahoe and Loomis Sept.
