Body LEXINGTON - The Southern Valley/Alma softball team captured one victory and had a pair of rallies come up short on opening weekend. On Friday, the Saints fell in an early hole and trailed 7-2 after three innings and 10-2 going to the bottom of the fifth.

Body After girls golf and softball started their seasons last week, the remainder of high school sports will begin Thursday as cross country, volleyball and football teams open this week. All area teams except for Southwest football will compete this week.

Body CAMBRIDGE - As area golf teams teed off their season Thursday at the Cambridge Invite at Cross Creek Golf Links, Cambridge’s Hailey Evans and Southwest’s Maddy Tryon finished at the top of the leader board at the nine-hole tournament.

Body The area Senior Legion Baseball teams were in action over the weekend. The Frontier County Outlaws went to Valentine for their district tournament. The Outlaws went up against the Security First Regulators and ended up losing their first round game to them 16-1.
