BENKELMAN - The Southern Valley girls closed out the regular season with a hard-fought victory over Dundy County-Stratton Friday while the boys fell to the Tigers 80-49. The girls contest was tightly-contested throughout as the teams exchanged leads often after the Eagles rallied form a first half-deficit to pull even at halftime.

At the District D-3 Tournament, Arapahoe produced a pair of district champions and three qualifiers for State.

BARTLEY - The Hi-Line girls basketball team saw its season come to a close Monday at the Subdistrict D1-10 Tournament with a 51-40 defeat to Wauneta-Palisade. The Bulls played the Broncos evenly and knocked down shots in the first quarter, but Wa-Pa took control in the second, stretching a 15-12 lead after a quarter to 30-19 at halftime.
Hi-Line’s Lauryn Ruda easily wins the tip at the Bulls’ Subdistrict opener Monday at Bartley.

Bantam qualifies for State Swim Meet with McCook

HASTINGS - While there was hesitation to battle the snowy and icy roads on Saturday morning, the McCook High School swimmers and divers made the trek to Hastings worth their effort. “We questioned driving to the Hastings meet, but it was a very successful meet for the Bison,” Graff said, adding “A huge shout-out to Cassie Spencer for driving us up there and back safely.” The McCook swimmers and divers returned home with numerous school records, several automatic qualifying times for the state swim and dive meet and a variety of medals from gold through sixth place.
