The Southern Valley basketball teams took on Alma and South Loup over the weekend. The girls’ offense scuffled in a 40-33 defeat to Alma Friday, but the Eagles bounced back in a dominant 45-17 win over South Loup on Saturday to pick up their 16th win of the season.

BRADY - The Arapahoe boys basketball team used a strong start to propel themselves past Brady Friday for their secod win of the season, 56-43. The Warriors scored 20 points in the opening quarter and led 20-5 after eight minutes.

Lady Warriors roll past Brady, Hitchcock

ARAPAHOE - The Arapahoe girls basketball team picked up its 13th and 14th wins of the season last weekend, rolling past Brady and Hitchcock County. Friday, the Warriors put up a big first half and claimed a 36-15 lead at the half over brady before coasting to the finish in a 65-39 win.
Arapahoe senior Haiden Garey opened the scoring in senior night. She added one rebound.

STATE-BOUND

At separate district tournaments, the Southwest and Southern Valley-Arapahoe girls wrestling teams each qualified multiple individuals for next week’s State Tournament in Omaha. The Roughriders had a pair of district champions at the B-4 Tournament in Bayard as Rylan Custard (115) and Ambie Custard (135) each remained undefeated on the season, cruising to first-place finishes.

Hi-Line boys split thrillers with Med Valley, Cambridge

It was a week of thrillers for the Hi-Line boys basketball team as Medicine Valley and Cambridge played their parts in nail-biters. Tuesday, the Bulls rallied from a late deficit and forced overtime at Medicine Valley on a Brody Diefenbaugh three at the buzzer.

Girls basketball subdistricts begin Monday, Tuesday

The postseason begins for area girls basketball teams next week and, though official pairings won’t be available until Thursday, postseason seedings were all but sewn up Tuesday. In Class C2, Maywood-Hayes Center earned a hosting spot and will be the top seed of Subdistrict C2-8, which will be played in Maywood.

TRENTON - Both the Maywood/Hayes Center girls and boys basketball teams surged through a busy and challenging week as they looked to collect mometum for the looming postseason. The MHC girls cruised through three wins in five days, cushing Mullen, 61-37, Hershey, 73-50, and Hitchcock County, 73-39.

ALMA - Houston Billeter scored 12 of his game-high 29 in the fourth quarter and led sixth-seeded Southwest to a consolation win over fifthseeded Hi-Line to close out the RPAC Tournament Friday in Alma. Southwest improved to 7-10 while the Bulls fell to 8-11 this season.
