Opal Coakley visitors on Christmas were Joanna Ellis and Cathy Coakley of Central City and three great-grandsons of Lincoln, NE: Adam, Dylan and Tim. Joe and Ronna Kutlas of Papillion, Joe and Abbey Prickett of Bloomington, IN; Aaron McCoy of Bertrand and Allen and Sally McCoy of Arapahoe were guests of Donna McCoy for Christmas.

Before the Christmas break, Santa’s FCCLA elves were in Arapahoe sharing a whole lot of joy with APS students. They filled so many hearts with JOY, including their own! They appreciated all the donors helping out which included Hometown Agency - Mason Schroeder; Wenburg Funeral Home - Dallas Garey; MNB Realty - Kate Warner; Arapahoe Library - Jennifer Einspahr; Adams Construction - Doug Snyder; NAPA - Chris Middagh; Cunnigham’s - Mitzi Urbom; Arapahoe Coffee and Floral - Kristi Wendland; Sich Family; Holliday Family; APS Staff and Arapahoe Outreach.

Kayla Hoard is a 15-year-old freshman at ARapahoe High School. Her family include her parents Tim and Jamie, sister Bethany, brothers Tracy and Ethen. On December 2nd, 2021 she was taken to the ER as she wasn’ts feeling very well. Doctors did some tests and they showed that her white cell count was extremely high and her blood platelets were very low. She was then rushed to omaha Children’s Hospital to the Hematology/Oncology departmet. Then at about 7:00 a.m. on December 3rd, doctors diagnosed Kayla with (AML) leukemia that is located within her bone marrow.

25 Years Ago December 26, 1996 Winners of the annual Chamber of Commerce Holiday House contest were Kay Kasson, Best All Around; Van Cozad, Religious; and the Beaver City Manor, Commercial. Southern Valley students at Beaver City, kindergarten through fourth grade, presented a program of Christmas music for residents at the Beaver City Manor, which was much enjoyed.

10 years ago Dean and Brittany (Tollman) Klotz were in Bartley to visit her family on her birthday when they learned of the Bartley Café closing. Hours will be 6 a.m.

10 years ago Concrete has been run, metal beams and roofing braces put up on the new library building in Elwood. Judge Michael Piccolo has been named County Court Presiding Judge of the 11 th Judicial District (Arthur, Chase, Dawson, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Gosper, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Perkins, Red Willow, and Thomas Counties) beginning January 2012.
