Residents speak up at Bartley Village Meeting in defense of Foster

Bartley Board meeting filled with angry residents The Village of Bartley Board of Trustees held their regular meeting on Tuesday, September 10 in front of a packed house. At least 70 people attended the meeting, the majority in support of Village employee Jim Foster. Over 30 people spoke out on Foster’s behalf for nearly two hours after an emergency meeting on September 3 when the board called on him to resign or be fired. The reason given was a written complaint of sexual harassment. The board stated Foster had walked out of the meeting and no action could be taken.

Indianola Fire and Rescue hold annual picnic

The Indianola Vol. Fire & rescue held their annual “firemen’s family picnic” Saturday evening in the park! Some door prizes won by Isabella Lord, Ann Teel, Joellyn Davidson, Kylea Stritt, Brittany Vanpelt, Brooke Teel, Miranda Teel. There was awesome salads and deserts along with burgers, hotdogs, and steak sandwiches. Of course there was the traditional “fire truck” ride that the kids love!

Village of oxford discusses nuisance property

The Village of Oxford Board of Trustees held their open hearing for the 2025 budget immediately before opening their regular meeting on Monday, September 9, 2024. They will hold a special meeting at a later date to approve the budget.

State Fair 4-H Fashion Show

Frontier County 4-H members were among 306 4-H members who participated in the 4-H Fashion Show at Grand Island on Saturday, August 24. Youth ages 8-18 showcased garments that they made, decorated, or purchased through 4-H projects during one of the three shows hosted within the Raising Nebraska exhibit in the Nebraska Building at the State Fairgrounds.
Coralee Schurr, daughter of Tyler & Kayelon Schurr, from Eustis, NE received a purple ribbon in the State Fair 4-H Fashion Show. She constructed & modeled a dress for the STEAM Clothing Level 2 4-H project.

The elementary at Eustis- Farnam was full of excitement as the students sat in the gym for a ribbon cutting ceremony of their own branch of Waypoint Bank. It will be the Stampede Student Branch and staff ed by sixth grade students with help from the bank staff.

West nile Virus cases in Southwest nebraska

Two human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported to Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) from the nine-county health district. West Nile Virus is a disease that is spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito. Nebraska has had the second highest number of West Nile cases in the country so far this year.
