Water, Crops and Soil Health Field Day set for September 5

The West Central Research, Extension and Education Center will host its 20th annual Water, Crops and Soil Health Field Day on September 5 at 8:30 a.m. All area producers are encouraged to attend the field day free of charge to learn more about water, crops and soil health.

Pool League Champions crowned

Several local pool players were recognized for winning the Spring Session of the American Poolplayers Association (APA) 8-Ball and 9-Ball Pool Leagues. Winning the Sunday 8-Ball titles were “Shooters 8-Ball” out of Eagles Club in McCook and “Just 1 More” in Hayes Center.

The big day had finally arrived after two years of not seeing some of our cousins. The date had been set six months ago and by the Grace of God it happened to coincide with the Dickmeyer’s Special 100 year Heritage & Pioneer Award at the Gosper County Fair.

University of Wyoming Dean’s List and Dean’s Freshman Honor Rolls

July 25, 2024 -- The University of Wyoming lists the following students from Nebraska on the 2024 spring semester academic Dean’s and Dean’s Freshman Honor Rolls. The honor rolls consist of regularly enrolled undergraduates above freshman standing who earned a 3.4 or better grade-point average, and freshmen who have earned a 3.25 or better grade-point average.

SV Jr. Shooters take first trip to Nationals

OXFORD - Five Southern Valley Jr. Shooters traveled to Mason, Michigan to compete in the USA High School Clay Target League National Championship. Those on the team qualifying were Kody Collins, Dean Collins, Jaxen Fletcher, Coby Noel, and Gabe Grove.
