ELWOOD - The 2024 Gosper County Fair theme is “It’s just a small town throwdown.” 4-H events started Monday, July 15 and will continued until Friday, July 26. The Elwood Rodeo will crown the queen at 7 PM while the carnival opens.

STOCKVILLE - The 2024 Frontier County Fair is this week in Stockville. 4-H activities started last Monday, July 22, and last all week until Sunday, July 28.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) is excited to announce the hiring of Reagan Skow as the new associate professor of Agribusiness Management Systems for the upcoming Fall 2024 semester. In the six years since graduating from Wauneta- Palisade High School, Skow has deepened her ag industry knowledge by studying at Oklahoma State University.

Brainerd, MN –Local Just For Kix Director, Nicole Warner attended the 2024 Just For Kix Directors Convention with over 200 Just For Kix Youth Program Directors from Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado and South Dakota. The convention was held at the Just For Kix Baxter Dance Studio and Arrowwood Lodge at Brainerd Lakes on June 17-19.

I did it again! I let news day slip past me last week without getting a column in. I thought of it the next day but that was a bit too late. And, how are we over half way through the month of July?? Our Fair Week is this week and after that, it’s almost time for school to start again. Wasn’t graduation just a couple weeks ago?

Arapahoe City Council moves forward on two abatements

The Arapahoe City Council met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 7:30 pm. Prior to the regular meeting a public hearing was held to approve the general development plan and zoning regulation text amendment. Doug Christensen said it is a base document that can be amended in the future for tif projects. It is very basic and not project specific. Also approved in public hearing was a zoning text amendment to allow greenhouses and a single family dwelling that is in light industrial zoning. The public hearing were closed and the regular meeting called to order.
