OXFORD - When it comes to shooting sports, Oxford has a long history of not only taking part, but of winning. The teams and competition may have seen some changes over the years. But the commitment of the shooters, organizers, sponsors and coaches has remained.

EUSTIS - The Eustis Ag Society installed new arena lights in preparation for the 108th Annual Eustis Fair & Corn Show on August 4-10. The Eustis Ag Society has been planning to install new lights for about 12 months.

Los Abuelos expands family business

CAMBRIDGE - Cambridge's palate has expanded with the opening of a new restaurant in town: Los Abuelos. The Mexican restaurant sits where the Corner Cafe used to be, and it opened Tuesday, July 9.

Pioneers: Soldier, fugitive, brother, and homesteader

In the late 1860s and early 1870s, the first settlers came to the Medicine Creek area of Nebraska. The settlers were all from somewhere else, but they knew not to ask about another settler’s past. Nebraska was a clean slate for many pioneers, and one of the first individuals to take advantage of that fresh start was William Herbert Miles.

Arapahoe student, athlete now an entrepreneur

ARAPAHOE - As locals may have noticed, a new food truck business has started catering to our community: Tropic Like It's Hot, a shaved ice trailer run by Arapahoe student Sage Larson. Tropic Like It's Hot opened on May 2, 2024, after passing the required health inspection.

Cambridge American Legion Auxiliary hear from Girls and Boys State attendees

Cambridge Unit 199 of the American Legion Auxiliary met at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Building. After the Pledge of Allegiance, we welcomed the Girls State and Boys State students who came to give reports of their experiences at State. Hayden Garey, Meredith Breinig, and Mileeya Monter were the Girls State representatives. Lael Rathbun and Charlie Houser were there for Boys State. Trenton Roscop was not present. 14 members of the students’ families were in attendance.

Area swimmers do well at Plains tSunami League Championships

The Plains Tsunami Swim League Championship was held on Saturday, July 13 in Imperial, Nebraska. The league currently has 32 teams that span parts of Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska. Area teams were well represented at the meet bringing home many top places including 14 individual first place finishers.
