Southwest School Board approve new teacher contracts

The Southwest School’s Board of Education held their monthly meeting on July 15th at 7:30 pm. Board members John O’Dea and Jason Neseth were absent from the meeting. After approving the agenda and Old Business items, the board heard from Superintendent Drew Billeter about adopting and revising necessary policies for the upcoming school year. The various policies included updating school mapping data, instituting Malcolm X Day Education, controlling firearms and weapons for non-students, complaint procedures, and repeating a grade at the request of a parent or guardian. The policy revisions and adoptions passed through separate motions.

Tri Valley Medical Foundation hires new director

The Tri Valley Medical Foundation Board is pleased to announce the hiring of Jill Goodwin as the new Foundation Director. The Foundation Board interviewed three candidates on Friday, June 14 and then approved hiring Goodwin.

Frontier County Sheriff ’s Office receives grant for $13,068.75

The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office is receiving grant funding assistance for obtaining eCitatios and eCrash equipment according to bill Kovarik, Administrator of the NDOT Highway Safety Office. “This highway safety grant funding in the amount of $13,068.75 will aid the Frontier County Sheriff’s Office in purchasing eCitation and eCrash equipment to better track citation and crash information.” Kovarik said.

Hepatitis A is Preventable

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) encourages all persons 1 year of age and older to make sure they are vaccinated against Hepatitis A. Hepatitis A is a vaccine-preventable liver infection that is very contagious and is often spread unknowingly to others. Each year cases of hepatitis A are seen throughout the United States and the world.

Red Willow County GOP will not meet in July

The Red Willow County GOP will not be having their monthly meeting in July. Members will be hosting at the Red Willow County fair booth located in the Merchant Building from 5:00-9:00 pm July 24-27, 2024.

Bronson and Bentley Arnold of Kearney were houseguests of grandparents, Gary and Brenda Davis a couple days over the weekend. Linda Berens of Omaha spent Monday to Friday with her mother, Doris Bellamy.
