Nebraska Library Commission awards grants for Youth Library Service

The Nebraska Library Commission recently awarded $37,495 in grants for Excellence in Youth service. Of the grants awarded to thirty-nine Nebraska libraries, several addressed the need for educational programs, Summer Reading programing, and materials like LEGO, STEAM, and other activities to encourage creativity in young people. The Nebraska Library Commission congratulates all the libraries who received grants as they develop new and innovative programs to ensure excellence in library service for Nebraska young people. Wagner’s Supermarket’s roots run deep

Wagner’s Supermarket in Arapahoe has new owners. But, their roots remain the same. Andy and Molly Wendland have taken over the operation of the store. Andy, grandson of retiring owners Lorris and Ruth Haarberg, will be at the store as he is needed and continue working for Christensen Farms. His wife Molly will finish out the year in her position as a teacher and then be in the store full time. Their two daughters are excited about the store and love being there.

New Veterans Memorial Dedicated in Elwood

A long project has come to conclusion with the dedication of the new Elwood Veterans Memorial on Thursday, May 2. The event was held in the evening in the hope that people could attend. Elwood American Legion Post 290 Commander Amie Moores was very pleased with the turnout of up to 75 people. “For such a small town we had such a wonderful turnout,” says Moores who organized the event. Moores was also very pleased with the overall community involvement.
Members of the Patriot Guard participated in the dedication of the Elwood Veterans Memorial on May 2nd by making a flag wall.
