Eligible hunters may apply for auxiliary mountain lion permits

Applications to convert a Season 1 Pine Ridge Unit permit to an Auxiliary Season mountain lion hunting permit will be accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission from March 2-5. Only residents who held a 2026 Pine Ridge Unit mountain lion permit but did not harvest a mountain lion during Season 1 are eligible to apply for the Auxiliary Season.

As I write this Tuesday morning, it’s foggy! The old saying says that snow will follow fog in 100 days. We would definitely take the moisture, but sure don’t want snow in June! And we for sure hope we get some moisture before 100 days!!

ARAPAHOE – Fifth and Sixth grade students from Arapahoe-Holbrook, Cambridge, and Southern Valley School Districts attended a Healthy Habits program on Thursday, February 26. The event that included 121 participating students was facilitated by the Furnas/ Harlan County Extension Offi ce and hosted by Arapahoe Public Schools.

EUSTIS – The Eustis Library Board is encouraged that almost $70,000 has been raised for the proposed new library, that will connect to the west end of the village meeting office. The estimated cost for the expanded library construction is $743,000.

BLUE HILL - Jon Capps, candidate for Nebraska Legislature District 38, announced Wednesday that he is temporarily suspending his campaign activities as he focuses on his family. He is one of five candidates that filed to run for the seat being vacated by term-limited Senator Dave Murman.
