The Furnas County 4-H Council and Furnas County 4-H Clubs are excited to present the 2026 4-H Carnival to be held Saturday, April 18th beginning at 6:00 pm at the Ella Missing Center in Arapahoe. Come on out and enjoy some hot dogs, homemade cake and ice cream, play games, and win prizes! There will be lots of door prizes donated by area businesses so be sure to purchase tickets from a Furnas County 4-H’er!

The Curtis American Legion Post 95 is pleased to announce that four young men have been generously sponsored by Post 95, BSB Construction, and Midwest Special Services to attend the American Legion Cornhusker Boy’s State for 2026. The candidates are Ethan Brown (Post 95), Mason Roblee (Midwest Special Services), Lucas Einspahr (BSB Construction), and Tyler Bantam (Post 95). The Boy’s State program will be held May 31 – June 6, 2026 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln downtown campus. The annual citizenship program, sponsored by the Nebraska American Legion, is designed to provide youths with a better understanding of how city, county and state governments operate.

Dan Stehlik, agricultural mechanics instructor at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA), was awarded the Honorary Nebraska State FFA Degree during the Nebraska FFA State Convention in Lincoln, recognizing his decades of dedication to agricultural education, student mentorship, and career development.

Maywood’s Ag Mechanics and Technology Team placed 3rd at State FFA out of 60 Teams! (Team members: Etha Renner, Clayton Mahanes, Steven Werkmeister, and Zach Wheat) Ethan Renner received top 10 out of 240 individuals.
