Adult Gentry Scholarship applications available to Arapahoe graduates

The Everett and Pearl Gentry Adult Scholarship is now open to AHS graduates. In addition to being an AHS high school graduate, applicants must currently be in college or living in the Arapahoe school district but holding outstanding college loans. This $500 Adult Gentry Scholarship can be awarded two times to deserving applicants. Graduates in the Class of 2023 are not eligible for this award but will be able to apply in the fall of 2024.

Arapahoe City Council discusses golf course and planter boxes

The Arapahoe City Council met on Tuesday, October 17 at 7:30 pm. During the meeting they approved a resolution for liens against three properties for unpaid fees for the vacant property registry. One of the properties has been put into a trust in order for the city to move forward with the property. In nuisance update they have not yet received a signed purchase agreement for a property being transferred to the city. Once this happens there will need to be discussion on future plans with the property as to what should be taken down and left.

Moorefield local Megan Grunden Welch and her son competed at the 2023 Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show last week at the Jim Norick Arena in Oklahoma City. Megan and twelve-year-old Lane took home one World Championship, two Reserve World Championships, seven National Championships, and three Reserve National Championships.

Oxford Community Food Pantry opens at new site

OXFORD - The Oxford Community Food Pantry is home. After months of fundraising and the efforts of volunteers the new building is ready for use. It is open and the staff are taking appointments. The new building and the community that helped it were celebrated on Sunday, October 15 with an open house. About 100 people attended the event. Everyone was welcome to come take part in grilled hamburgers and tour the pantry.
