Eustis-Farnam making progress on building expansion

EUSTIS-FARNAM Eustis-Farnam Public School is under construction. According to Superintendent Nick Hodge, Eustis-Farnam is adding a preschool because almost all other school districts in the state have preschools connected to the school.
Building work being done at the outset of the school year on the 5,000-square foot Eustis-Farnam building expansion.

Dawson County Cattlemen provided the beef which was prepared by Jolene Block of the Around the Block Catering and the Dawson County 4-H Foundation provided the trimmings for the annual event. The Pony Express Association and Dawson County Extension Board members served the group in their usual efficient manner.

17th Annual Nebraska Kids Fitness & Nutrition Day

The 17th annual Nebraska Kids Fitness and Nutrition Day (NKFND) was held in McCook on Wednesday, October 11th at the McCook Community College Peter and Dolores Graff Event Center with around 250 fourth grade students. The event was also hosted at Perkins County Schools in Grant on September 20th with approximately 160 fourth grade students attending the Mountain Time Zone event. Students came from across the nine counties in Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) to participate in this fitness and nutrition event.

221 Husker Undergrads receive stipends for research projects

LINCOLN, NE (10/10/2023)-- The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has awarded stipends to 221 Husker undergraduates to participate in research with a faculty mentor during the 2023-24 academic year. Nebraska’s Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experience Program supports undergraduates to work with faculty mentors in research or creative activities.

Exploring possible careers and learning how to prepare for the future was the Nebraska Extension 4-H Youth Development program taught to 121 sophomore high school students from McCook & Southwest Public Schools on Sept 27, 2023. On September 26, an additional 103 freshman & sophomore students from Medicine Valley, Maywood, Hayes Center & Wauneta/ Palisade also attended the Connect the Dots program. Members of the Statewide Nebraska Extension Career & College Success Team brought the 4-H youth development program “Connect the Dots” to southwest Nebraska.
