On Sunday, October 29, Tornado Alley in Arapahoe was host to the Harvest of Hope Festival, empowering vulnerable communities. There were vendors fundraising for several different foundations helping vulnerable groups in our area such as Kids & Dreams Foundation and many more including Area Agency on Aging and Alzheimers Association. Many activities were available for the whole family to enjoy.

We’ve had our first snow! My patio had a good inch of cover when I got up Sunday morning. That and the other little dabs of moisture have slowed harvest but the combines are back in the fields again. Moisture is always good, but it sure would be nice if we could get the crops in first.

Nebraska Pride Chorus presents: A Melodrama! As Long As I Have the Music

Nebraska Pride Chorus Sweet Adeline International performed at the Arapahoe High School on Sunday, October 28. They sang several songs including a little acting as they presented “A Melodrama! As Long As I Have the Music”. They also performed in Kearney that evening at the Merryman Performing Art Center and in North Platte on October 29th at the Community College Theater.

Funding available for Soil Carbon Conservation practices

(NEBRASKA) – November 17th is the deadline for producers in the Central Platte and Upper Big Blue Natural Resources Districts (NRDs) to apply for the current round of funding through the Nebraska Soil Carbon Project. This project provides financial incentives to producers who utilize key conservation practices in central Nebraska. Farmers can adopt soil health practices-including cover crops, no-till, and diverse crop rotations-that store carbon in the soil.
