Southwest Nebraska Big Give and Give BIG Elwood are approaching, and with them, the opportunity to give back to the community. For twentyfour hours, area supporters “are invited to give back to their favorite local charities”. From midnight to midnight, kind souls can donate to local causes online or in person. Southwest Nebraska Big Give will accept donations on November 2nd at www. swnebiggive.org. Flower shops will collect tons of food for charity

(SIOUX FALLS, SD) Florists across central United States will gather over 20 tons of food for those in need November 6-11, 2023. Dubbed “Caring Rose Week,” the stores are deeply discounting bouquets of one dozen roses and accepting canned goods as partial payment.

Four members of the NCTA Advanced Welding class traveled to Gothenburg on October 19 to visit Wear-Parts. This company applies hard surfacing to cultivator shovels and various other tillage blades. Former NCTA welding student, Trever Mullenberg, assisted demonstrating and instructing the students with the tour and processes.

Gosper & Frontier County Receives Dividend Checks

Gosper County has received another membership dividend, this time in the amount of $3,560, from the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Association II (NIRMA II), the county’s workers’ compensation coverage and risk management services provider. The dividend was part of a planned $1 million distribution shared with 83 Nebraska counties and eight county-associated agencies during NIRMA’s annual membership meeting on Oct. 19-20 in Kearney.

Area students to perform in the 2023 nebraska All-State Ensembles

746 Students from 117 Nebraska Schools to Perform in Lincoln in the 2023 Nebraska All-State Ensembles The Nebraska Music Education Association (NMEA) is pleased to announce the high school students selected to participate in the 2023 Nebraska All-State Ensembles. Each year over 2,000 of the best musicians in the state in grades 9-12 audition for placement in one of four available ensembles. Selection in one of these groups is one of the highest musical honors attainable in Nebraska. Three local students Kristin Holcomb of Arapahoe, All-State Chorus, Soprano I; Leah Downer of Cambridge, All-State Chorus, Soprano II; and Micah Gerlach of Cambridge, All-State Chorus, Tenor II - were selected.

MCC launching ‘Dracula’s Ship’ this weekend on campus

The McCook Community College theater department invites members of the public to “sail into the nightmare” when they launch “Dracula’s Ship” Saturday and Sunday at the Weeth Theater on campus. This play is written and directed by MCC Theater Instructor Mark Hardiman, adapted from the novel by Bram Stoker.
