It is easy to get excited about planting vegetable seeds and transplants in the vegetable and flower gardens, even when it is too early to plant. This frustration is one of the most common comments that I receive from gardeners that call into the Extension Office. Slowly but surely, the weather is warming up.

Furnas/Harlan 4-H programs receive $200 each

As part of the Harlan/Furnas Farm Bureau Federation outreach, the board approved to donate $200 to both the Furnas County and Harlan County 4-H programs. Checks were presented to Furnas/Harlan Extension Educator, Rebecca Dahlgren for the 2023 4-H programs.

Horizon Gymnastics Chalks Up Win

Competing in Lincoln, Ne on February 10-12, 2023 at Solid Rock Gymnastics, Horizon set the bar high for their competition. Taking the floor against 13 competing teams, the gymnasts came out and set the gym on fire. Teams from Beatrice, Corning,IA, Plattesmouth, York, Adams ,Columbus, Clarkson, Oakland, Norfolk, Ord, Lincoln(2), and Alma were entered in the AmeriKids CHALK IT UP CLASSIC. This event was hosted by Pioneer Gymnastics Academy , out of Lincoln, NE. Horizon Gymnastics from Holdrege, Ne with competitors from a large area around the city, came home with a truckload of awards. Horizon had 15 ALL AROUND CHAMPIONS,

Arapahoe school Board Meets During spring Break

Several teachers and students were in attendance for the March 13 Arapahoe Public School Board meeting even though Monday marked the first day of spring break. During the meeting, the board voted to purchase a lowmileage 12-passenger 2020 Chevrolet van from Faw’s Motors.
