March 6, 2023 The moisture has been wonderful, but it is also nice to see some brown dirt. I’ve never seen the bottom go out of this yard like it did this year. And I’ve heard identical comments from lots of others. It is actually solid now and I’ve been able to get the drive somewhat straightened out. The old combine feeder house chain that Ray rigged up for me works great for a driveway drag.

Oxford Food Pantry raising funds for new facility

The Oxford Food Pantry volunteers are on a campaign to raise funds for a new facility due to losing their current location in the near future. The Pantry has had several locations over the last decades after starting out of a closet at the Methodist Church in Oxford.

Auxiliary gives to Senior Center

The Oxford Auxiliary recently purchased bingo cards for the Golden Generation Center in Oxford. The cards are used during the scheduled games at the Center.

Cambridge Ministerial Association contributes to local firefighters

The fires last Fall in the areas surrounding Cambridge affected many in our community and our local firefighters and volunteers protected us well. The Association, comprised of the ministers of local churches in Cambridge, hosted special offerings in support of Cambridge fire fighters within their member churches. The local churches raised $2,989 for the firefighters. These funds will allow for the purchase of cell phone charging stations which were determined to be a need during fire season. The Association also supports the Cambridge community by overseeing our local food pantry and the community Meals on Wheels program.

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, March 6, 2023. Council member Nora Mc-Gowen was absent. Council approved the consent agenda items and then approved the Cambridge Rescue Service meeting minutes as submitted. A discussion was held about the Library Board Meeting minutes, Council member Vernita Sailor commented that the Teddy Bear workshop looked like it was well attended. The Library Board Meeting minutes were approved as submitted.
