The Valley Voice is excited to offer a subscription special for both new and existing subscribers to the newspaper. Starting Monday, February 27 and running through Friday, March 3, all in-state print subscriptions will be on sale for $30 while out-of-state subscriptions will be $40.

Huxoll takes first Furnas County Spelling Bee

The Furnas County Spelling Bee was held at Southern Valley Schools last Wednesday with each of the three county school boasting winners in the written and oral categories. Arapahoe’s Thomas Magorian took first place in the written portion while Cambridge’s Reid Huxoll finished first in the oral round.

The Gosper County Senior Center is in full swing and has coffee drinkers in at 8:30, pool-players in the midmorning, exercise machines that are in motion, a puzzle on the table, domino game to get started after lunch and of course great noon dinners for you to enjoy with friendly neighbors. The staff will continue to make your visit here, either while participating in the activities or eating our noon meal, as positive and enjoyable as can be. Thanks for your support.

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) encourages residents to know if they are vaccinated for pertussis, also called whooping cough. Each year about 10,000 cases of pertussis are diagnosed in the US.
