(February 9, 2023) Lexington, Neb. – Dawson Public Power District welcomed its newest board members at its February meeting.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center has announced its fall 2022 dean’s list for students enrolled in nursing, dentistry, pharmacy and the allied health professions. To qualify for the dean’s list, nursing and the allied health students must be enrolled for 12 or more hours during the semester and have a grade point average of 3.75 or above.

ELWOOD - The Elwood Board of Education met Monday to approve a pair of new teacher contracts for new hires as well as a number of small projects for building and grounds maintenance. After approval of consent agenda items as well as the bills, the Board approved seven items in new business.

ARAPAHOE – During the monthly meeting on February 13, the board approved a base rate increase to $14.00 effective immediately for all classified staff. They also approved increases for hourly employees based on the years employed by the district.

McCOOK — An Indianola man charged in an October 2020 murder that occurred just west of Indianola reached a plea agreement with Red Willow County prosecutors in January. Alva C.

CAMBRIDGE – Since the 108th Legislature convened on January 4, property tax relief and education issues have been front and center. Governor Jim Pillen’s plan to increase K-12 public education by 2.5 billion through 2030 while cutting property taxes is seen as a great step in the right direction, but some question its sustainability.

The Elwood Area Foundation will host the 12th Annual Spring Gala on March 25. The community fundraiser has become an annual tradition with proceeds from the event supporting community projects and youth programs and projects. The evening features complimentary cocktails, a served dinner, and silent and live auctions. Live music from the band The Innocence will close out the night.

ELWOOD - Despite the challenges and unknowns of an outside-the-box business idea, the Elwood Hometown Cooperative Market is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. The grocery store is operated as a cooperative, one that was formed a decade ago after Elwood’s grocery store was closed.

LINCOLN, NE (02/06/2023)-- More than 6,900 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the fall semester of the 202223 academic year. Qualification for the Deans’ List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center.
