The Holbrook Veterans Monument and Memorial being constructed at the Holbrook park has begun. Construction of the 40’ diameter concrete base was done by Sexton Construction from Cambridge. Pouring started early on September 20 with Bob Sexton and Scott tenBensel of Paulsen’s doing an amazing job. The 1400 lb. granite monument with the military branches will be displayed along with 9 flags, a 5’ wide kneeling soldier, a battlefield cross, 5 benches and some 4’ flower planters. A wall will be built with bricks and tile (purchased in memory of Furnas County Veterans). You can still purchase these at the Village Office. They are planning a dedication on Memorial weekend May 27, 2023.
