Potluck was held on Labor Day at Sunshine Village. Hostesses were Virginia Cookson and Bev Brown. There were two new residents present, Patty Meyers and Rhonda Huntsman. They celebrated birthdays for Ilene, Diane and Rhonda. The next meeting will be in October with Ruth Beck ad Sherry Saylor as hostesses. Bingo will be held on September 17. Ilene’s program was on school starting, Labor day, September colors, history of Grandparents day and 911.

National Reptile Awareness Day art contest begins

Students across Nebraska are invited to celebrate National Reptile Awareness Day 2022 through an art competition hosted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Young artists in grades K-12 may submit their original artwork of a Nebraska native reptile by Oct.

The Gosper County Senior Center is in full swing and has coffee drinkers in at 8:30, pool-players in the midmorning, exercise machines that are in motion, a puzzle on the table, domino game to get started after lunch and of course great noon dinners for you to enjoy with friendly neighbors. Hunting on state recreation areas begins Sept. 6 Hunters are reminded Nebraska’s state recreation areas are closed to hunting until Sept. 6. Several hunting seasons open in early September, including archery deer, dove, grouse and other small game and furbearer seasons on Sept. 1. Early teal opens Sept. 3 and fall turkey on Sept. 15.

Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce set to host Trail of Treasures flea market

Trail of Treasures is hosting their 11th year on October 1, 2022. The Vendor/Flea Market Extravaganza across Southeast Nebraska extends from Missouri on the East to Colorado on the west. Started in 2012, Trail of Treasures™ is now a 370-mile continuous Vendor/ Flea Market across southern Nebraska. Last year, people from Canada to Texas and California to Indiana attended the event, which helps bring people and thousands of dollars to small towns along the route, thereby helping local economies.
