According to the Nebraska Corn Board, 57% of all planted corn acres in Nebraska are irrigated and 43% is dryland. On average, 64% of all corn production comes from irrigated corn. In the 2012, another year marked by drought, irrigated corn production accounted for nearly 85% of the corn production.

Nebraska’s Property Tax Request Act that was passed into law in 2021 went into effect this year. Under this measure, a special property tax hearing must be held in the county during September if a political subdivision’s (county, city, school district, community college) tax increase exceeds a set formula.
