The Gosper County Senior Center is in full swing and has coffee drinkers in at 8:30, pool-players in the midmorning, exercise machines that are in motion, a puzzle on the table, domino game to get started after lunch and of course great noon dinners for you to enjoy with friendly neighbors. The staff will continue to make your visit here, either while participating in the activities or eating our noon meal, as positive and enjoyable as can be. Thanks for your support.

Elwood celebrates Read Across American Month

Elwood Elementary celebrated Read Across America month with a 101 Dalmation theme. Students were encouraged to read a predetermined number of minutes to earn a dalmation puppy to display. Students were challenged to earn at least three puppies to attend a movie in Arapahoe at the end of the month. Some students gave "Book Talks" on their favorite books. Elwood Spring Concert

The Elwood K-6 grade students presented a spring concert last week at the school. The fifth grade band played Love That Band, Majestic and Rockin’ Along. The sixth grade band played Dixie 2 Beat, Westside Blues and Elephant Island Boogie. The K-6 Grades sang Jukebox Time Machine, Music! Music! Music!, She Loves You, Dancing Queen, Splish Splash, Vogue, Don’t Stop Believin’, Breakaway, It Don’t Mean a Thing If it Ain’t Got that Sing, Sing, Sing, and Jukebox Time Machine for the Finale.

Cambridge Quiz Bowl Places Third

ESU #11 Senior High Academic Quiz Bowl was held in Holdrege on March 30, 2022. Twelve teams from the ESU #11 area competed. Teams were: Alma, Arapahoe, Axtell, Bertrand, Cambridge, Elwood, Eustis-Farnam, Holdrege, Loomis, Minden, Southern Valley and Wilcox-Hildreth. Cambridge students placed third in the competition, Holdrege was first and Minden was second.
