ELWOOD – After longtime Gosper County Sheriff Dennis Ocken retired at the end of January of this year, the county commissioners appointed Chief Deputy Craig Ward to Gosper County Sheriff in February. Both Ward and Deputy Jesse Naputi are running for County Sheriff. Since both men are registered Republicans, the winner of the primary will run unopposed during the General Election for the four-year term.

The Bartley Young Guns are hosting a breakfast at the Legion Hall on Saturday, April 9 from 8-10 am, followed by an Easter egg hunt in the park at 10 am. The Ministerial Association in Cambridge is hosting a hunt on Saturday, April 9 a 11 am at the Shelter House in McKinley Park.

There will be a few changes in the primary election this year. The 2020 Census was finally completed in the fall of 2021.

10 years ago Adam Beam placed 1 st in the Junior Division of the Central Nebraska Regional Science and Technology Fair held recently in Franklin. Adam won a medal, certificate and $70.00 to use for future research.
