Oxford to increase pool wages

Body
Wages for swimming pool employees were discussed at the regular meeting of the Oxford Board of Trustees on Monday evening, April 4. Pool manager Lacy Rice attended to meeting to speak to the board. There was some discussion on getting guards hired and the possible need to increase wages. Clerk Becky Calderone and Rice had put together the number of work hours that may be needed for the season. Rice would like to reduce the number of hours from previous years by having 3 guards scheduled instead of 4. She also said they could perhaps hire someone younger to come in when needed to just work the counter on especially hot days on an as needed basis. Trustee Chad Cunningham recommended $9 per hour for first year guards with it going up 25 cents for each year, $12 per hour for the manager and $11 per hour for assistant manager. Cunningham commented that a manager in charge of keeping kids safe should make more than what they were previously paying. He said they would also like to see performance reviews for the guards. The board was in agreement on the wages. Calderone will prepare a resolution for the next meeting.
