2022 Nebraska Fish Art Contest Open for Entries

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade can discover the outdoors by participating in the third annual Nebraska Fish Art Contest. This international art and writing competition gives young people the opportunity to highlight their artistic talents while learning about fish, fishing and aquatic conservation.

Elwood Students Compete at the Central Nebraska Science and Engineering Fair

On March 2nd, Kara Brockman, Noah Rand, and Karter Tilson competed at the Central Nebraska Science and Engineering Fair held at UNK. The trio earned ten awards, including, Noah and Kara finishing in the top five overall projects. Students will travel to NCTA on March 14th in hopes of qualifying for the Nebraska State Science Fair.

Security First Bank Holds Third Annual Feeding Hearts Food Drive

Security First Bank in Cozad, Elwood, and Overton, with the help of their customers and employees, collected over 438 food items to benefit the Grand Generation Center, Gosper County Food Panty, and Overton Christian Church Food Pantry through their recently completed “Feeding Hearts” food drive.

The Gosper County Senior Center is in full swing and has coffee drinkers in at 8:30, pool-players in the midmorning, exercise machines that are in motion, a puzzle on the table, domino game to get started after lunch and of course great noon dinners for you to enjoy with friendly neighbors. The staff will continue to make your visit here, either while participating in the activities or eating our noon meal, as positive and enjoyable as can be. Thanks for your support.

Thanks to the Cambridge High School Track Team, pictured above, and its coaches, and members of Cambridge Rotary Club, Lions Club and the American Legion Auxiliary who participated in retrieving the wreaths from veterans’ graves in Fairview Cemetery. The American Legion Auxiliary sponsored this wreath-laying ceremony in December as a part of the National Wreaths Across America. A wreath was placed on each veteran’s grave – a total of 364 in Fairview Cemetery.
