Rotary Collects Toys for Lions Christmas Project

Cambridge Area Rotary Club collected new toy donations from club members for the Lion's Club Christmas Project. Later in the day Debbi dropped our donation off to a member of the Lion's Club. Our local clubs working to help each other is what small communities are all about. Merry Christmas!

Rotary Presents Check to Arapahoe Backpack Program

Cambridge Rotary Club supports our surrounding communities and presented a check during halftime of the basketball game Friday evening in Arapahoe to Casie Helms for the Arapahoe Backpack Program. This great program provides meals for kids at Arapahoe School each week to take home and runs solely off donations. Our club hopes our donation will help make a difference. Cambridge Rotary Club also helped place wreaths on Veteran's graves Saturday as part of the Wreaths Across America. It was a very humbling experience and was our pleasure to help honor all the Veteran's, especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. How do they do it? Every Christmas season finds pretty lights and yard decorations around town and in the country. This year we did interviews with three families who year after year put in the time and work to decorate for the season.

LINCOLN – Governor Pete Ricketts appointed Patrick Heng of North Platte as District Court Judge in the Eleventh Judicial District. The Eleventh District consists of Arthur, Chase, Dawson, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Gosper, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Perkins, Red Willow, and Thomas counties.

Quinn, five others sentenced in District Court

BEAVER CITY — Judge James Doyle sentenced William “Billy” Quinn, 57, to a minimum of 176.5 years in prison for first-degree sexual assault and sex trafficking of a teenage girl and the production of child pornography during 2019 and 2020 in Furnas County District Court on Wednesday.
Prior to the proceedings, Quinn, who was hand-cuffed, turned around in his chair, peering over his glasses and acknowledged family members in the court room.

10 years ago The Arapahoe Warriors defeated Maywood, Medicine Valley and Dundy County to take home the championship plaque of the 2011 Cattle Trail Invite last week. AHS was led by Wyatt Anderson with 40 points throughout the tournament in which the Warriors outscored Maywood 67-25, Medicine Valley 42-30, and Dundy County 47-36.

10 Years Ago The kids participating in the Daybreakers walking program each morning would like to invite everyone to join them in their journey next Friday. Program director Christina Houghtelling stated that we have decided to invite the torn to the high school gym to walk alongside us and see what takes place every morning before school.
