Arapahoe K-6 Christmas program held Thursday night

The Arapahoe elementary students presented “Our Christmas Favorites” on Thursday, December 9th in the north gym. Performances included Pre-concert instrumental solos, 5th & 6th grade band, A Storybook Christmas (a one-act musical play for young voices) presented by the elementary students.

Cantata shares message of Joy

The Southern Valley Area Cantata performed to a full house Sunday, December 12 at the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford. The event, sponsored by the Oxford Ministerial Association, drew around 100 people. The Cantata, titled ‘Joy Has Dawned’ composed and arranged by Lloyd Larson, shared a joyful message through music and narration. The Cantata was directed by Anne Paine with assistant director Dave Hunt and Jaelyn Lewis children’s choir director. Narrators were Christa Holen and Dan Hunt. Choir members: Wes Holen, Brian Jenkins, Jimmy Kerr, Rob Lewis, Roger Benjamin, Dee Lewis, Mark Lueking, Jeff Sherwood, Dan Hunt, Dave Hunt, William Owen, Chloe Henry, Stacey Henry, Marty Mitchell, Lisa Watson, Anita Donovan, Margie Lambert, Jaelyn Lewis, Dawn Sladky, Payton Adams, Riley Aerni, Jenna Hunt, Lacy Rice, Jane Ridpath, Judy Upson. Children’s Choir: Payton Adams, Addilynn Aerni, Gideon Aerni, Riley Aerni, Chloe Henry, Hattie Rice, Lucas Rice, Wyatt Rice.

Christmas events fill weekend

Christmas events and activities filled the weekend in Oxford. Friday saw several Open Houses in businesses including at the Oxford Thrift Store where Sue Keslar and Sharon Harm served punch, coffee and cookies (pictured top). The Hilltop Event Center also played host to Santa during their soup luncheon and craft show on Saturday, December 11. A Christmas Cantata was also performed on Sunday, December 12.
