November Firearm Deer Harvest Lower Than Last Year

LINCOLN, Neb. – Preliminary Nebraska deer check-in numbers indicate statewide harvest is down 12 percent compared to 2020 for the November firearm season. During the nine-day season, 37,053 deer were harvested, compared to 42,078 in 2020.

Volunteers unloaded more than 300 wreaths for the Cambridge Wreaths Across America event scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. Similar events will also take place this weekend throughout the area and the public is encouraged to attend.

Subscription rates to increase in 2022

Annual subscription rates to the Valley Voice newspaper will increase effective January 1, 2022. The increase will take the cost of in-state subscriptions from $36 for a 12 months to $45 and out-of-state subscriptions from $40 to $50.

Elwood students excel in Kayak Kids essay contest

Elwood High School recently had two students win first and second place in the Nebraska Game & Parks Kayak Kids essay writing contest. Delaney Collins, first place winner, will receive a sit-on-top kayak, paddle and life jacket. Gracie Rushton, runner-up, will receive a rod and reel.

10 years ago Despite the postponement of the event the day before due to weather conditions Good Samaritan Society on December 4 at Arapahoe celebrated the dedication 50 years. Ron Brown was one of 41 people that donated blood last Wednesday at the Holbrook Red Cross Bloodmobile held at the Holbrook Community Building.
