INDIANOLA - The Southwest Board of Education met Monday for a brief meeting that included the superintendent evaluation and a one-year extension for Superintendent Todd Porter's contract. Following a hearing - there was no public comment - on American civics, the Board approved old business items and touched briefly on some new business, including the agreement to hold a staff holiday party at a time to be determined and an update on staff negotiations.

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department announces an opportunity for youth ages 9 to 14 to participate in the annual radon poster contest. The contest works to educate youth about the dangers of radon exposure in the home.

ARAPAHOE – The Arapahoe-Holbrook School Board held their monthly board meeting on November 8, 2021. Bob Drews, from Holdrege, who will serve as the school superintendent for the 2022-2023 school year was among those in attendance.

The Holbrook Village Board held their regular month meeting on Monday, November 8. Chairperson Matt Schulz called the 6:30 p.m.

ARAPAHOE - In late October, the Furnas County Sheriff's Office learned of skimming devices that had been covertly placed at two ga pumps at the Ag Valley Coop station in Arapahoe. Then, last week, news broke that similar devices had been discovered at fuel pumps in both Eustis and Gothenburg.

BARTLEY – By all accounts, the Village of Bartley Board Meetings aren’t known to be particularly animated. But Tuesday’s meeting might have proved an exception.

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has announced the latest recipients under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program’s Downtown Revitalization funding opportunity. Five communities have been selected to receive a portion of the $2,175,000 available for award.

ARAPAHOE – Earlier this month, the Arapahoe- Holbrook School Board hired a new superintendent for the 2022-2023 school year. Bob Drews, who is currently serving his 16 year as the high school principal in the Holdrege Public School District, will assume his new position as the chief administrator next summer.

Holdrege, NE-Johnson No.2 hydroplant will begin a scheduled outage starting Nov. 2 and will be off-line until Nov.
