Even the ducks dressed up for Halloween in Oxford on Sunday, October 31. The annual Trunk or Treat event at the Evangelical Free Church saw a parking lot full of cars for kids to trick or treat at, a fire to sit around, hot chocolate and ducks with costumes to visit. The Oxford Chamber of Commerce also hosted their annual event downtown with free hot dogs, train rides and trick or treating at the businesses that were open for kids.

The scheduled meeting for the Village of Oxford Board of Trustees was not held on Monday, November 1 due to a lack of quorum. Absent from the meeting was Mike Minarik due to illness, and Keithen Hamilton and Scott Hamilton due to work. The agenda was very light and clerk Becky Calderone said the items could be moved to the next scheduled meeting.

Indianola City Council discuss nuisance complaints

INDIANOLA - The Indianola City Council met Monday for its first regular meeting of the month, considering a pair of nuisance complaints and a water/sewer rate study for the City. After approval of the minutes from last week's meeting and the claims, the Council considered a pair of nuisance complaints and sent courtesy letters to residents of two separate properties in the 400 block of North Fourth Street.

WIC families will have access to more fruits and vegetables due to the Rescue Plan Act

As part of the American Rescue Plan Act, the WIC Cash Value Benefit for fruits and vegetables was increased for each WIC participant over the age of 1 year during June through September. On September 30th, Congress increased the benefits based on recommendations from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) and extended these benefits through December, 2021.

Check Stations Back In Use For Nine-day Firearm Deer Hunters This Year

LINCOLN, Neb. – Deer hunters are reminded that in-person check stations will be used during the nine-day firearm season this year. All deer harvested during the Nov. 13-21 season must be accompanied by the hunter and taken to a check station no later than 1 p.m. on the day following the close of the season.
