4-H Achievement Night is a special event held each year to honor 4-H’ers, club leaders, and volunteers for all the hard work they have put forth toward their projects and the Furnas County 4-H program over the past year. This year, over 70 4-H’ers and family members attended Achievement Night held at the Ella Missing Center in Arapahoe on Sunday, October 17th hosted by the Arapahoe Baby Beef 4-H Club.

On October 19 and 20, 2021, approximately 300 sophomore students from Arapahoe, Minden, Bertrand, Southern Valley, Elwood, Alma, Eustis-Farnam, Loomis, Holdrege, Franklin, Axtell, and Wilcox-Hildreth participated in the career exploration workshop called Connecting the Dots. This interactive career exploration simulation program is designed to help students learn more about careers of interest as well as how to “connect the dots” from tenth grade through postsecondary study to the workplace. The workshop is a Nebraska Extension educational program and was coordinated by Extension Educator, Kathy Burr, and sponsored by Educational Service Unit 11.

Dawson County Cattlemen provided the beef which was prepared by Jolene Block of the Around the Block Catering and the Dawson County 4-H Foundation provided the trimmings for the annual event.

Virginia Cookson with the Dale Whitson family entertained the Arapahoe Cross Country team with a delicious Philipino dinner at the Blue Room at Sunshine Village. A great evening full of good food, games and laughter.

Kate Meyers, Patti Schievelbein and Diane Deselms went shopping and ate out on Saturday before attending the Sweet Adelines concert in Arapahoe. Ric and Kate attended the football playoff game in Arapahoe on Friday with Alma.
