4-H Achievement Night is a special event held each year to honor 4-H’ers, club leaders, and volunteers for all the hard work they have put forth toward their projects and the Furnas County 4-H program over the past year. This year, over 70 4-H’ers and family members attended Achievement Night held at the Ella Missing Center in Arapahoe on Sunday, October 17th hosted by the Arapahoe Baby Beef 4-H Club.

Esu 11 sponsors Career Exploration day for area students

On October 19 and 20, 2021, approximately 300 sophomore students from Arapahoe, Minden, Bertrand, Southern Valley, Elwood, Alma, Eustis-Farnam, Loomis, Holdrege, Franklin, Axtell, and Wilcox-Hildreth participated in the career exploration workshop called Connecting the Dots. This interactive career exploration simulation program is designed to help students learn more about careers of interest as well as how to “connect the dots” from tenth grade through postsecondary study to the workplace. The workshop is a Nebraska Extension educational program and was coordinated by Extension Educator, Kathy Burr, and sponsored by Educational Service Unit 11.

76th annual dawson County 4-h achievement Barbecue

C = Cozad; EL = Elwood; G = Gothenburg; L = Lexington; O = Overton; Oc = Oconto; S = Sumner 156 4-H members, parents and leaders attended the 76th annual Dawson County 4-H Achievement Barbecue held Sunday night, October 24, 2021 at the Lexington Middle School Cafeteria. Dawson County Cattlemen provided the beef which was prepared by Jolene Block of the Around the Block Catering and the Dawson County 4-H Foundation provided the trimmings for the annual event.

Free seminar on opening a Family Child Care home Business

(Grand Island, Neb.) – Central Community College will offer a free informational seminar, “Opening A Family Child Care Home Business,” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 at its locations in Columbus, Grand Island, Hastings, Kearney and Ord. It also will be available online.
