The Southern Valley Board of Education met on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 8 pm. Elementary principal Mark Grove reported he has two new students this week.

Recently, I visited the Massacre Canyon Monument near Trenton, Nebraska. I also stopped to visit the grave of a Pawnee woman buried in Indianola, Nebraska. According to a historical marker at Indianola, on August 5, 1873, a thousand Sioux warriors surprised and defeated a Pawnee hunting party of 350 men, women and children, killing 69 of them.

The Friends of the Oxford Public Library National Friends of the Library week gathering on October 18 has been postponed. The Friends group is also raffling a Halloween pumpkin floral arrangement.
