Arapahoe grad and his wife turn to art in retirement

Dee Haussler, a 1964 graduate of Arapahoe High School, and his wife, Jerri, a native of Grand Island, currently have art work on display at the Minden Opera House through the month of October. Dee stressed, “My wife is the true artist, and I just tagged along with my carvings.” Jerri (Reher) Haussler is an accomplished photographer.

Arapahoe receives nine applications for superintendent position; hire expected by end of October

ARAPAHOE – The Arapahoe-Holbrook School Board held their regular monthly board meeting on October 11, 2021. The 11 was also the last day for potential candidates to apply for the 2022-2023 Superintendent position. A total of nine applicants applied for the district’s top administrative position. The school board will meet in a closed session on October 18 to go over applicants, selecting four candidates for interviews. The board is scheduled to interview candidates on October 23 and intends to select and offer a contract to the future Superintendent on October 25.

25 Years Ago October 3, 1996 The Southern Valley Lady Eagles won the volleyball tournament at Loomis. Doris Shrauger, executive director of the Beaver City Housing Authority, was honored during the banquet of the Iowa-Nebraska Fall Conference in Omaha when she was presented the 1996 AMHA Excellence In Management Award in recognition of superior performance in property management.
