At one time the village of Carter sat half way between Orleans and Oxford, Nebraska on highway 136. Immigrants frequently unloaded their longings at Carter, and then traveled to their homestead in wagons from there.

Cambridge Unit 199 of the American Legion Auxiliary met in regular session on November 11 at the Community Building after serving a Veterans Day luncheon to 24 members of the American Legion, the Legion Auxiliary and Spouses. Seven members were present for the meeting.

100 Years Ago November 17, 1921 Every war since 1860 was represented in the Armistice celebration parade put on in Oxford. The electric lights have been extended to the home farthest north and Kenneshaw’s now have lights.

25 Years Ago November 14, 1996 The 1996 milo and corn harvest is drawing to a close and may have been one of the better harvests in our area for several years. Most elevators in the area have had to find room for all the extra grain they›ve taken in.
