Oxford Board discusses Clinic

Body
The Village of Oxford Board of Trustees met on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 7 pm. Discussed at the meeting was a letter the Village received from. Harlan County Health System regarding their hours of operation. The clinic has reduced their hours to Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 12 pm. The letter states this change is “for the foreseeable future”. Board Chairman Clint McQuiston said the clinic had previously went from 5 days a week to 3 and the Village had reduced the payment to the clinic accordingly. The letter also addressed that they have had staffing shortages but reopened in March at the three days per week and “saw no change in patient volume”. They stated in their letter they could not keep a provider there without the patients. McQuiston said he thinks it has been “hit or miss” for patients trying to go into the clinic and people have given up and found someplace else to go. “If they want patient count to go back up consistency is the answer,” he said. McQuiston is going to make some calls and look over the contract. The Northwest Village Center building and the cost to keep it was also discussed.

The county GOP meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at Bedore Barn/Marlene’s Kitchen, 3 miles north of McCook. All are welcome.
