The Elwood Preschool visited the farm of Norm and Cynthia Evans on Wednesday September 29th. The students were able to feed horses, learn how pumpkins and potatoes grow, as well as see the inside of a carved pumpkin and learn about corn that is fed to animals.

Emergency blood shortage: Red Cross supplies drop to lowest post-summer levels since 2015

ELWOOD, Nebraska (Oct. 1, 2021) — The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage and must collect 10,000 additional blood products each week over the next month for the blood supply to recover and meet hospital and patient needs. Donors of all blood types – especially type O – and are urged to make an appointment to give now and in the weeks ahead to overcome this current shortage.

Beginning Oct. 1, 2021 we are offering folks the opportunity to have a carry out meal if they so desire. Mission Mall volunteers honored at LWML Semi-annual meeting

The workers at the Mission Mall in downtown Arapahoe were honored on Sunday, October 3, at the LWML Semi-annual meeting. Proceeds from the Mission Mall are used for mission projects on the local and national level and abroad. New Officers are Bonnie Helms, president and Melinda Gardner, President-elect. Secretary Susan Maaske and Human Care Chairman Kayla Helms were re-elected. Treasurer Kim Hayden, Archivist Megan Soncksen, and Christian Life and Growth Chairman Carla Gardner will share their talents in 2022 in the second year of their term. Shannon Helms will continue as the Christian Life and Community Rep. Pastor James Moshier is the Pastoral Counselor. Elected Evening Circle officers are Chairman Dee Raley Chairman and Amy Strand Secretary-treasurer.

The meeting began with a right-hand salute to the American Flag. A prayer was offered. A moment of silence was observed for departed comrades. The POW/MIA empty chair was recognized. The Blue Star Banner was noted. The Pledge of Allegiance, the American’s Creed and the preamble to the SAL Constitution were spoken.
