Stamford’s 51st Pork Days

STAMFORD - Stamford celebrated their 51 Pork Days on September 25 and 26 . Their theme for 2021 was Celebrating our Hometown Heroes. The parade was full of floats honoring those heroes from all walks of life. They were celebrated with pictures of those who have served in the military and honoring the heroes who serve at home with fire departments and even the heroes keeping things going in the home. The parade also boasted three marching bands: Alma junior high, Alma high school and Southern Valley high school.

Join Friends of the Library October 18

The Friends of the Oxford Public Library is celebrating National Friends of the Library week. They are hosting a gathering on October 18 and ask residents to join them for coffee and finger desserts during normal hours that day. The Friends group is also raffling a Halloween pumpkin floral arrangement. Tickets are 50 cents each or 10 for $4. These can be purchased at the library, from the friends and South Central Bank in Oxford. The drawing will take place during the gathering at the library on October 18. The Friend of the Oxford Library support various projects at the library including the subscription to Overdrive and the book fair.

Cambridge Memorial Hospital Association Annual Meeting October 13, 2021

The Cambridge Memorial Hospital Association Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at the Heritage Plaza at 1205 Nelson Street in Cambridge, Nebraska. The annual meeting is open to all association members. Anyone is eligible to become a member. Dues are $10 and can be paid online at http://bit.ly/TVHSDues; in person at Tri Valley Health System; mailed to PO Box 488, Cambridge, NE 69022; or paid at the door the day of the meeting. Election of officers will occur at this meeting.

The Cambridge High School Cheer Squad held its annual cheer camp for youngsters Friday after school. Those attending the camp sat together for the first half of the Cambridge football game and also performed cheers with the Cheer Squad at halftime.

Knowing what type of disaster is most likely to occur in your community is important when making your emergency plans and building your emergency kit. The disasters you are most likely to encounter in southwest Nebraska are severe weather, loss of electricity or communications, or exposure to hazardous materials.

Three Prairie Pines residents are celebrating milestone birthdays together. Lelia Haussler, Opal Coakley and Emma Crawford have all joined the ranks of centenarian. Emma Crawford turned 102 on September 9, Opal Coakley turned 101 on September 4 and Lelia Haussler recently turned 100 on August 15.
