OMAHA - It was a weekend of great weather and great performances at the Class C and D portion of the State Track and Field Meet in Omaha. Fourteen area athletes took home medals, including a pair who brought home the ultimate prize.

Seven qualify for Class C State Track

Southern Valley Public Schools hosted the 2023 NSA C-8 District Track Meet. Three Southern Valley athletes qualified, and four Hi-Line athletes qualified. The Southern Valley girls team placed fifth overall while the Hi-Line girls placed tenth. On the boys side, Hi-Line took fifth and Southern Valley toak ninth Bulls Ryker Evans, Asher Hecox, Isaiah Bullis, and Treyton Evans qualified. Evans won the 100 and 200 meter dashes, qualifying in both events.

Twenty-Four qualify for Class D State Track

Arapahoe, Cambridge, and Southwest tracksters competed at the 2023 D-7 NSAA District Meet in Cambridge last Wednesday. Between the three schools, twenty-four athletes qualified for state: three from Arapahoe, nine from Southwest, and twelve from Cambridge. The Cambridge girls were District Champions, the Southwest girls took eighth, and the Arapahoe girls got tenth. The Cambridge boys took fifth, the Arapahoe boys took sixth, and the Southwest boys took seventh.

ALMA - Area track teams wrapped up the regular season at Alma Thursday, competing at the Dale Harsin Invite. Local athletes won 17 of the meets 34 events and the Cambridge girls captured the team title while the Hi-Line boys did the same.

OXFORD - The Southern Valley golf team defended its home course and took the title at the Knipping Invite Thursday, providing the exclamation point by claiming the top five spots individually as well.

Southern Valley medals three, finishes RPAC Runner-Up

ALMA - Southern Valley’s quest for the team title at the RPAC Golf Tournament came up just a few strokes short. Behind the top two scores at the tournament, Hitchcock County posted a 353, which was foru strokes better than the Eagles, who had three individual medalists in the top seven and finished with a 357.
Southern Valley’s Matt Henderson took fifth place with an 84 at the RPAC Golf Tournament, leading the Eagles to a runner-up finish.

RPAC Track and Field Meet

BENKELMAN - Behind 23 individual medals and three individual champions, the Cambridge girls track and field team claimed the RPAC Team Championship at the conference track and field meet at Dundy County-Stratton Thursday. JoLie Farr took first in the 100, Brenna Deterding finished first in the 800 and Jalen Kent captured first place in the long jump, guiding the Trojans to 120 team points, which was more than enough to beat out runner-up Wallace, which scored 86 points.
