LEXINGTON - With a team score of 2669, the Arapahoe girls bowling team captured the District B-6 Title last Wednesday and qualified for the Class B State Tournament in Lincoln Tuesday. The Warriors rolled past Lexington, the district runnerup, Southern Valley and Ogallala, beating the entire field by more than 150 pins.

KENESAW - After runaway champion Amherst, the Hi-Line wrestling team was the best of the rest, taking runner-up honors at the FKC/ TVC Wrestling Tournament in Kenesaw. The Bulls scored 106 points, edging Loomis/Bertrand with 105 and Pleasanton with 103 for runner-up team honors.

Postseason competitiion has arrived for boys wrestling and girls basketball teams. While girls wrestling wrapped up district competition last weekend, boys will hit the mat Friday and Saturday trying to qualify for next weekend’s State Tournament in Omaha.

BRIDGEPORT - With pins in both the quarterfinals and the semifinals Saturday, Southwest freshman Madelyn Tryon qualified for the Girls State Wrestling Meet next weekend in Omaha. Tryon finished second place at 190 pounds at the District 4 Meet in Bridgeport, faling to Sidney’s Saphira Whitley, who upset the tournament’s top seed in the semifinals, then pinned Tryon in the finals.

CAMBRIDGE - After winning three of four games in a busy week last week, the Arapahoe girls basketball team rode that momentum into a great start in Cambridge Tuesday night. The Warriors held the Trojans to just four points in the opening quarter and grabbed a 15-4 lead after eight minutes.

BARTLEY - The Southwest girls basketball team continued its recent winning ways, earning a pair of idled down victories over Dundy County-Stratton and Wallace the past week to get to a season-best seven games over .500.

CAMBRIDGE - In what was a rather difficult shooting night for both teams, the Cambridge boys basketball team erased an early deficit and leaned on its defense for a 52-37 victory over Arapahoe Tuesday.

BARTLEY - With just two games in the past two weeks, the Southwest boys basketball team earned a win Tuesday against visiting Wallace, 5639, to improve to 6-11 this season. The victory over the Wildcats followed up one of the Roughriders’ better performances of the season last Tuesday, albeit in a 49-47 defeat to Dundy County-Stratton (16-4).

SOUTHERN VALLEY With three challenging home contests last week, the Southern Valley girls basketball team took two of three and improved to 16-3 on the season. The Eagles scuffled Monday in a contest that Coach Richard McDonald said the team wasn’t ready for, falling 49-29, but bounced back with wins over Alma, 57-47, and South Loup, 49-33, to regain their winning ways.

ARAPAHOE - On a night where both teams struggled to make shots, the Southern Valley boys basketball team rode its defense and free throw shooting to a 47-41 victory at Arapahoe Monday. The Eagles shot just 33 percent from the field, but got to the line 20 times, making 14 and generating enough scoring to hold off Arapahoe.
