NORTH PLATTE - With more than 200 team points, the Hi-Line wrestling team finished runner-up at the North Platte St. Pat’s Invite.

The Cambridge wretsling team finished runner-up to Anselmo-Merna by four points at the Twin Loup Ivite Friday in Sargent. The Trojans had eight medalists and return home Saturday for the Fran Jorgensen Invite.

MCCOOK - In the first round of the Cattle Trail Basketball Tournament Tuesday, the Southwest girls and Arapahoe boys advanced to the tournament semifinals while the Southwest boys and Arapahoe girls fell to the consolation rounds.

EUSTIS - In a three-team battle that lasted throughout the tournament, Sutherland edged Cambridge and Hi-Line for the Hi-Line Wrestling Tournament title Friday in Eustis. The Sailors and Trojans had gained some separation in the finals and the championship came down to the last five weight classes as Sutherland edged Cambridge, 167.5-165 for first.

BARTLEY - The Southwest girls wrestling team finsihed seventh and Southern Valley took 14th at the 17team Southwest Invite Friday in Bartley. The Roughriders had two individual champions at the meet as Gracelyn Fries took first at 105 pounds and Madelyn Tryon finished first at 190 pounds.

WAUNETA - After cruising to victory on opening night, the Cambridge girls basketball team used some clutch play down the stretch to come back from 12 down to defeat Wauneta-Palisade Friday night and complete a 2-0 opening week.

ELM CREEK - After a first-half lead got away from the Southern Valley girls in an opening night loss to Minden, the Eagles rebounded by throttling Elm Creek to open the season 1-1. Southern Valley jumped all over the Buffaloes Friday, outscoring them 23-6 in the opening quarter, then 25-13 in the second to take a commanding 48-19 lead to halftime.

WAUNETA - With a gutsy finish to game one and a workmanlike showing in game two, the Cambridge boys basketball team started its season with consecutive victories over Hitchcock County (43-36) and Wauneta-Palisade (48-28) last weekend.
