Hi-Line girls fall to SEM, Maywood-Hayes Center

MAYWOOD - Battling through a tough stretch of contests, the Hi-Line girls basketball team dropped a pair fo road games last weekend to Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, 47-27, and Maywood-Hayes Center, 65-26. Hi-Line fell to 3-5 on the season.

Arapahoe finshes third at DCS Invite

BENKELMAN - The Arapahoe wrestling team finished third at the 12-team Duundy County-Stratton Invite Friday, scoring 174 points. Rafe Hill led the Warriors with a first-place finish at 152 pounds while Grayson Koller (132) and Jacen Smith (285) each finished runner-up.

MAYWOOD - The Hi-Line boys basketball team was unable to erase a large deficit Thursday, then dropped another contest Saturday as it fell in both games last week to move to 3-5 this season. Thursday, Hi-Line couldn’t get its offense going through the first three quarters at Sumner-Eddyville-Miller as Hi-Line trailed47-26 to the fourth quarter.

Arapahoe pulls pair of comebacks at Med Valley

CURTIS - The Arapahoe girls and boys basketball teams both overcame doubledigit deficits to post road wins at Medicine Valley Friday night. The girls team rallied back from an awful start and a 14-1 hole after a quarter to claim a 52-47 victory over the Raiders while the boys team scored 25 in the fourth quarter to erase a 10-point deficit and take a 61-60 triumph.

AMHERST - Area athletes won 14 medals and took three individual chmpionships at the Amherst Invite Saturday, a meet that included four of the top Class D teams in the State as well as a number fo rated Class B and C wrestlers. Cambridge’s Dierks Sayer (126), Southern Valley’s Cole Broeker (145) and Hi-Line’s Drew Knoerzer (285) each won individual championships while six others - Cambridge’s Micah Gerlach (106), Jacob Corbett (138), Adam Corbett (145) and Hunter Perks (285), Southern Valley’s Braxton Hammond (113) and Hi-Line’s Parker Schutz (120) - each finished runnerup.
