Arapahoe JV falls to Eagles

The Arapahoe junior varsity football team traveled to Southern Valley on Monday, October 11th to take on the Eagles. The game started out with both teams trading possessions until the second quarter when the Eagles scored on a 14 yard completion to take the lead 8-0. The Warriors answered right back when Austin Warburton broke a 54 yard touchdown run up the sideline. Trenton Roskop added the conversion to tie the game 8-8 going into halftime. The Eagles came out in the second half and scored on their first two possessions to go up 22-8. The Warriors answered when Warburton got free on another long run, this time from 38 yards out. Warburton also added the conversion to cut the lead to 22-16. The Warrior defense toughened up and Alex Diaz intercepted an Eagle pass to give the Warriors the ball back with a chance to take the lead. The Warriors got the ball down to the 5 yard line before stalling out. The defense forced another punt by the Eagles, but the offense failed to get into the endzone. The Eagles were able to run out the clock and seal the 22-16 victory. Leading tacklers for the Warriors were: Grayson Koller-8, Kyle Elliot-7, Titus Goshert-6, Roskop-6, Warburton-4, Diaz-3, Eli Shafer-3, and Taylor Jones-1. The Warriors finished their junior varsity season with an 0-6 record.

Arapahoe JH falls to Alma

The Arapahoe junior high football team faced off against the Alma Cardinals on Tuesday, October 5th. The Cardinals scored first on an 11 yard pass to go up 8-0. The Warriors came right back on the next possession and Carl Nordine scored from 3 yards out and Hayden Sich added the two point conversion to tie the game up at 8. The second quarter was all Cardinals as they racked up 20 unanswered points to take a 28-8 lead into halftime. The Cardinals came out in the second half and scored on their next two possessions to go up 44-8. The Warriors found the endzone again on their next possession when Kade Fisher connected with Briggs Hill on a 41 yard completion for the score. The Cardinals added one more touchdown to make the final score 52-14. Fisher finished with 77 yards through the air, and Nordine had 48 yards on the ground for the Warriors. Leading tacklers for the Warriors were: Sich-7, Nordine-5, Fisher-4, Cian McCorkle-3, Jordan Holstein-1, Edwin Mendez-Carcamo-1, Hill-1, James Weatherbee-1, Trey Downey-1, Taydem Zodrow-1, and Dristen Warburton-1.

Cambridge sweeps Hi-Line

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge volleyball team grabbed a 3-0 win over Hi-Line Friday in a match that Hi-Line often led early, but the Trojans controlled late. The Bulls had leads in each of the final two sets but breakdowns in serve receive and strong net play from the Trojans eventually led Cambridge to take control in a 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 victory.

Warriors sweep past Northern Valley

ARAPAHOE - The Arapahoe volleyball team picked up its sixth win of the season with a quick 25-18, 25-14, 25-18 sweep of Northern Valley Thursday. The Warriors held the Huskies to -.113 hitting and rolled to victory in each set behind a balanced offense and strong serving.

PAXTON - The Southwest volleyball team ended a difficult four-game skid with a dominant 25-10, 25-15, 25-18 victory at Paxton Friday night. The Roughriders controlled the match with offense, pounding 41 kills while serving eight aces.

Saints’ season ends in subdistrict final

KEARNEY - The Southern Valley/Alma softball team reached Monday’s subditsrict final with a win over Minden in the first round, but saw its season come to an end with a loss to Keaney Catholic. The Saints gave up four unearned runs in the first inning of the day, but put things back together from there to roll to a 14-6 victory over Minden.

Jones qualifies for State Golf

HOLDREGE - With a round of 94, Cambridge’s Macy Jones qualified for her third-straight Class C State Golf Tournament, finishing eighth at the Class C-4 District Tournament in Holdrege Monday. Jones’ score led Cambridge to a ninth-place finish at the meet, posting a team score of 515.
