OVERTON - With four runners finishing in the top 10, the Hi-Line girls cross country team captured the Fort Kearny Conference Title at Overton Friday. It was the first conference championship for the three-year-old co-op.

SOUTHERN VALLEY- It was a crisp and cool fall homecoming night at Southern Valley High School on Friday as the Eagles played host to fellow RPAC member Bertrand, and it was the Vikings who came away with a big win 49-18.

BARTLEY - For the second-consecutive week, the Southwest football team got off to a strong start. But for the fifth-straight game, the Roughriders were unable to slow the opponent over the course of a game.

ARAPAHOE - The Arapahoe football found itself in a moment of unfamiliar territory Friday night - at least unfamiliar of late. After a scoreless first quarter, visiting Alma struck first on a 39-yard touchdown run for a 6-0 lead.

BARTLEY - The Southwest volleyball team swept both ends of a Tuesday triangular at Oberlin Tuesday, then battled but dropped both matches of a home triangular Thursday, moving to 14-6 this season. The Roughriders swept Decatur Community 25-15, 25-5 before escaping St.

PAXTON - The Arapahoe volleyball team picked up its fifth win of the season Thursday at the Paxton triangular as the Warriors took down the Tigers in straight sets before falling to Medicine Valley in three.

ELM CREEK - The Hi-Line volleyball team picked up its sixth win and split a triangular at Elm Creek Thursday, moving to 6-15 this season. The Bulls swept the host Buffaloes 25-21, 25-19 while also falling in straight sets to Pleasanton, 25-9 and 25-16.

The Arapahoe junior varsity football team hosted the Vikings from Bertrand on Monday, October 4th. The Vikings came away with the win, 36-20. The Warriors defense came up with a big play on the Vikings first drive of the game when Grayson Koller intercepted the Vikings pass and returned it 43 yards to the Arapahoe 33 yard line. The Warriors struck first when Trenton Roskop connected with Koller for a 24 yard completion. The conversion failed, but the Warriors were up 6-0. The Vikings came right back and scored on their next possession on a 64 yard run. They added the conversion to take an 8-6 lead. The Vikings kept right on rolling and scored on their next 3 possessions, capitalizing on some Warrior miscues to take a 28-6 lead into halftime. The Warriors came out in the second half and allowed the Vikings to score to widen their lead to 36-6. The Warriors came right back and scored on their next possession when Austin Warburton connected with Roskop on a double reverse pass for a 65 yard score. Warburton added the conversion for the Warriors to make the score 14-36. On the Vikings next possession, the football came loose on an exchange and Warburton scooped up the fumble and ran it in 24 yards for the score to make the score 20-36. The Warriors forced a Viking punt, but were unable to find the endzone again before time expired. Leading tacklers for the Warriors were: Roskop-10, Kyle Elliot-6, Koller-6, Alex Diaz-6, Titus Goshert-3, Clayton North-3, Warburton-3, and Eli Shafer-2.

The Arapahoe junior high football team traveled to Cambridge on Thursday, September 30th, to take on the Trojans. The Warriors started the game off by recovering an onside kick. Carl Nordine put the Warriors on the board first when he broke free on a 22 yard touchdown run, and added the conversion to go up 8-0. Cambridge came right back and went down the field, but stalled out on the 15 yard line. The Warriors took advantage of getting the ball back, and this time Hayden Sich scored on a 50 yard touchdown run and Kade Fisher added the conversion to put the Warriors up 16-0. On the Trojans next possession, Sich forced a fumble that was recovered by Wyatt Soncksen on the Cambridge 35 yard line. Kade Fisher broke loose and scored from 25 yards out, but the play was called back due to a penalty. On the next play, Fisher found Briggs Hill for a nice pass, but he was marked down just short of the endzone as time expired in the first half. Cambridge kicked off in the second half and recovered an onside kick of their own. Cian McCorkle got the ball back for the Warriors when he fell on a Trojan fumble. The Warriors had to punt and the Trojans got the ball back. The Trojans found the endzone on a 30 yard run to cut the Warrior lead to 16-6. Again, the Trojans recovered an onside kick, but turned the ball over on downs. The Warriors came back and took the ball down the field. Sich finished off the drive for the Warriors on a 2 yard touchdown run to put the Warriors up 22-6. Cambridge turned the ball over again on downs on their next possession, and Nordine took the ball 40 yards on the first play for another score to put the Warriors up 28-6. Cambridge came right back and answered, running it in from 38 yards out to make the score 28-12. The Warriors next possession ended when Nate Stevens fumbled the toss from quarterback Hunter Jorschumb. Cambridge got the ball back and were unable to convert before time expired. Leading tacklers for the Warriors were: Sich and Nordine each with 9, James Weatherbee-6, Fisher-6, Trey Downey-5, Wyatt Soncksen-3, Kolter Eidson-3, Cian McCorkle-2, Jorschumb-1, Hill-1, and Drew Hermes-1.

SOUTHERN VALLEY- Last Thursday the Eagles of Southern Valley hosted a triangular with Hoxie, KS and Cambridge. In the first matchup, Southern Valley took down Hoxie in two sets with the scores reading 25-23 and 25-21. In the first set, it was a tight battle with Hoxie leading for a good chunk of the action as the Eagles struggled with errors while attacking and serving the ball. But, Southern Valley used a 6-1 run to take a 16-13 lead in the set. Hoxie though countered with a 7-1 run of their own making it 20-17 late in the first. The Eagles battled back with some tough defense and solid swings at the net including a set clinching kill from Adeline Hunt.
