MAXWELL - The Cambridge football team rushed for over 250 yards and rolled away for a 40-16 win at Maxwell Friday, picking up its fourth win of the season while improving to 4-2. The Trojans forced five turnovers and scored once in each of the first two quarters to build a 16-0 lead at half before blowing the game open in the third quarter.

The C.B. Preston Memorial LIbrary in Orleans is offering a weekly story hour beginning in October. The story hour is every Tuesday from 10 - 11 am and is open to preschool age children. There will be games, crafts and stories.

In wild affair, Hi-Line stumbles late at Bertrand

BERTRAND - In a wild contest that featured a little of everything, the Hi-Line football team faltered late in a 55-38 loss at Bertrand Friday afternoon. The Bulls held a ninepoint lead late in the first quarter, then trailed by 17 midway through the second, but rallied to within three two minutes into the third.

Area teams dominate at MHC Invite

HAYES CENTER - Local teams dominated the field at the Maywood-Hayes Center cross country invite in Hayes Center Thursday. Southwest took the team title in the boys’ race and Arapahoe finished runner-up while Cambridge was third.
Southwest’s Carter Van Pelt and Arapahoe’s Campbell Schutz finished fourth and fifth individually at the MHC Invite.

SUTHERLAND - The Southwest volleyball team domin ated the first two rounds of the Sutherland Invite Saturday, then ran a bit short in the final to finish runner-up at its second-consecutive invite. The Roughriders breezed by Dundy County-Stratton in the opener with a 25-4, 25-14 win.

Warriors roll to 5-0 with win at Elm Creek

ELM CREEK - The Arapahoe football team continued its recent surge of momentum with a dominant performance at Elm Creek Friday. The Warriors scored 22 points in the opening quarter and built a 35-6 lead at the half before finishing a 49-28 victory to improve to 5-0 this season.

BARTLEY - The Southwest volleyball team took down visiting Arapahoe in straight sets Tuesday. Southwest rolled in the first as Arapahoe struggled on serve receive, but the Warriors battled early in sets two and three, only to see the Roughriders complete the 25- 7, 25-17, 25-12 sweep.

ARAPAHOE - What looked like it might be a sweep for Cambridge last Thursday met some resistance from Arapahoe in the third set. But the Trojans finished the match in four to take a 25- 12, 25-14, 19-25, 25-11 victory.

Trojans fall to Hitchcock County

CAMBRIDGE - Coming off its first loss of the season, the Cambridge football team returned home Friday for another tough matchup against Hitchcock County. The Trojans had their opportunities to try and climb back from a 16-0 deficit, but couldn't quite reach the end zone.
