CAMBRIDGE - Coming off its first loss of the season, the Cambridge football team returned home Friday for another tough matchup against Hitchcock County. The Trojans had their opportunities to try and climb back from a 16-0 deficit, but couldn't quite reach the end zone.

Southern Valley falls at Alma, 48-8

ALMA - Offense proved tough to come by Friday night for the Southern Valley football team at Alma. The Eagles managed just 107 yards in a 48-8 defeat to the Cardinals, falling to 1-4 this season.

Eagles take down Axtell, Wilcox-Hildreth; fall at Alma

The Southern Valley volleyball team won two of its three matches last week, taking both ends of a triangular with Wilcox-Hildreth and Axtell on Thursday before falling on the road at Alma Friday. The match with Axtell brought out the intensity Thursday as the Eagles prevailed 25-20, 19-25, 25-23.

The Arapahoe junior high football team took on the Vikings from Bertrand on Thursday, September 23rd. The Vikings started the game off by recovering an onside kick and scoring on their first possession.

The Arapahoe junior varsity football team traveled to Alma on Monday, September 27th, to take on the Cardinals. The Warriors started out by marching right down the field 65 yards capped off by a 7 yard run by Trenton Roskop.

ARAPAHOE - In a battle of unbeaten teams, the Arapahoe Warriors utilized a stout and opportunistic defensive effort to take down rival Cambridge 28-0 on Friday evening. The Warriors forced five turnovers, four of them being interceptions and a solid ground game from Colton Carlson to keep the Trojan offense at bay throughout the night.

MCCOOK - In a tournament that pegged a pair of local Class D1 teams against a field of Class B and C1 squads, the Southwest and Cambridge volleyball teams held their own Saturday, finishing second and third, respectively, at the annual McCook Invite.
